The Orakei Marina team had another meeting with NZMOA Clean Marinas and is actively working toward achieving accreditation, which we hope to have confirmed during the NZ Marina Operators Conference in Queenstown this September.

Our Operations Manager, Matt Bourne, has also been invited to co-present an NZMOA webinar alongside Anna Barnes of Tauranga Bridge Marina, highlighting the Clean Marina Programme. This invitation recognises Matt’s proactive approach and contributions to Orakei Marina’s Clean Marina efforts.

NZMOA’s Clean Marina Programme champions sustainable environmental practices aimed at protecting both coastal and inland marine environments for future generations. It is an industry-led initiative that encourages marina operators, boatyards, contractors, and recreational boaties to do their part in safeguarding water quality.

The programme promotes Best Management Practices (BMPs) — practical, low-cost, and low-tech solutions for reducing pollution and preventing contaminants from entering the environment. These practices are most effective when tailored to a business’s needs and integrated into daily operations. By adopting BMPs, marinas not only help protect the environment but also demonstrate sound, responsible business management.
